Wines of Argentina: You Write The Reviews!
Monday, October 15th | 7:00 pm | $45 | The Waldorf Hotel
We’ll start off the evening with a little Argentina 101; covering geography, climate, terroir, grapes, wine styles- the whole she-bang! Following that, we’ll tour and taste through 12 wines while I guide you through what us wine writers are looking for when we’re reviewing wines. We’ll discuss the wines one by one as we all write a couple thoughts and notes on each one!
Afterwards, I’ll compile pull-quotes from everyone’s notes and assemble crowd-sourced wine reviews for my WE Vancouver City Cellar column, hitting the streets Thursday, October 25th with your name listed as a contributor!
Net proceeds will go to the BC Hospitality Foundation’s Tip Out To Help campaign, providing financial support for individuals within the hospitality community who are coping with extraordinary costs arising from a serious health or medical crisis. For more info, please visit TipOutToHelp.com!
Just $45 gets you an Argentinian wine seminar, a dozen wines, your opinions and name in print, the support of a great charity and a whole lot of fun!

Blending Bootcamp: Laughing Stock Vineyards!
Wednesday, August 15th, 2012 | 7:00 pm | $40 | The Waldorf Hotel
They say Syrah’s one of the most suitable grapes for the Okanagan, particularly if its aromatics are lifted by a small splash of Viognier! Commonly known as a Côte-Rôtie blend, after the blend’s natural home in France’s Rhône Valley, the Syrah (or Shiraz)-Viognier blend is a worldwide success, gaining popularity through Australian versions and more.
Join Laughing Stock Vineyards’ winemaker David Enns as we tour and sample some of the globe’s more notable Côte-Rôtie blends (including Laughing Stock’s.) Afterwards, enjoy the opportunity to build your own blend with tank and barrel samples David’s bringing along, and see how yours stacks up!
Sem And The City
Tuesday, June 5th | 7:00 pm | $20 | The Waldorf Hotel
Semillon, or ‘Sem’ as it’s casually known, is a golden grape with roots in Bordeaux but is known the world over for making a dynamic array of wine styles. From the high-acid, bone-dry citrusy versions found commonly in Australia’s Hunter Valley to the rich, butterscotch-laden peachy style of Washington State’s legendary L’Ecole No. 41, the grape enjoys a devoted cult following around the globe.
“Sem And The City” launches Kurtis’ 2011 Wild-Ferment Semillon, an Okanagan Crush Padrelease that’s part of their Wine Campus series, along with a global tour and tasting of a half-dozen notable Semillons from France, Australia, B.C. and more.
This event will be a stand-up, casual affair with a killer live soundtrack spun by Rico Uno of ‘The Freshest’, interactive visuals by Jesse Robinson Williams, and a host of artisanal snacks to illustrate Semillon’s food-pairing potential.
Partial proceeds from the event, already half the price of regular EVWA evenings, are going to the BC Hospitality Foundation.
Blending Bootcamp: Tinhorn Creek Winery
Tuesday, March 13th | 6:30 pm | $40 | The Waldorf Hotel
While we all enjoy our single-varietal wines, from Pinot Noirs to Chardonnays, there’s a reason why some of the best wines in the world, whether Bordeaux or Super-Tuscans, are made from blending different grapes together. After a virtual tour and tasting through the many sub-regions and grape varieties of the Okanagan Valley, use your new-found knowledge to create your perfect BC blend!
